Cloned Meat...GOOD or BAD for me???

For my paper everyone I've changed my mind and decided to work on something a little more of interest to me...science! To address food politics I'm going to work specifically on the cloning of meat, well rather the governments decision to try to begin doing so and the health risk and health benefits to this controversial procedure or breakthrough scientific phenomenon...??? Here are some research sources I've come across while browsing information on my topic, let me know what you think:

HERE is an article from Fox News.com, their Natural Science Center, aired a story on the FDA and the public view on animal cloning. They also graphically explain the animal cloning process. Worth a quick glance. You'll be a little bit surprised!

Take a look at this article HERE to read some more in depth about the FDA's "risk assessment" on cloned meat from health at MSN.com. In detail also is talked about the labeling required to separate the "cloned meat" and "cloned free" products. Doesn't that sound WEIRD???! Would you believe the only way the experts can guarantee you the consumers DO NOT purchase and eat "cloned meat" is to go ORGANIC!...wwwhhhaaattt???

But to top it all off your going to be blown away with this video HERE from CBS News giving you a little preview of science companies and universities overseas actually already cloning meat and comparing it to the meat raised normally from livestock. Could this really be the future??? But more importantly will the American public get on board with the future to produce food by simply cloning one prize winning animal in pursuit of creating perfect herds of livestock and perfectly nutrition based poultry and dairy. Something to look forward to...?

In class a couple of days ago we watched a video called "Food Inc", a documentary on the huge secrets major company's in the food industry keep from the people who not only purchase their products but actually consume them. Ironically although the Major focus was this particular subject I was equally disturbed by the conditions to which they treated their employees(the farmers) and the power they held to ultimately take advantage of each and every one of them. It's sort of disappointing to see those in a higher power practically squishing the "little guy" even with knowing they have no choice but to deal with it. Goes to show what it is the makes the world go round and what it is that actually governs "people"...the almighty dollar!

Unfortunately although the farmers bear witness to the atrocities these companies approve of for the condition the animals live in they are not allowed to voice what they see or risk the lost of their contract with these major companies. It is also mandated that they upgrade to whatever demands set forth by them. Even if they cannot afford it they must find out a way. Borrow money from whoever will lend it to them which typically are banks. Causing them to be in major debt so far below the poverty line its difficult to climb out. Therefore creating the unstable relationship between them. It's terribly sad. I used to have a little faith in man but after viewing this video I can't say I do anymore. I'm just that disgusted. Offended even. Someone needs to stand up and do something besides allowing this behavior to continue in the interest of self concern. It's a shame. As part of the growing up process we all taught to share and care about others. Help others and even treat them as we would like to be treated. Somewhere along the way we all lose these very important values. Someones got to do something.
